Default Elementalist Rebalance

Didn't see anything about this (sorry if I missed something obvious elsewhere), but I just came across this list of coming skill changes.

http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/User:...list_rebalance

Too little, too late?

My Ele is finishing up the last few things for HoM and then I'm pretty much bidding farewell to all my characters in anticipation of GW2. Been playing since the BWEs... 7000+ hours across 12 characters... lots of memories. I'm sure I'll always return for the nostalgia, but I'm looking forward to playing an Elementalist as an Elementalist and not a healer or PVE only skill spammer.

Sure, it might be too little too late, however, it will make my Elementalist a lot more interesting to play. The skills look very fun! I got bored with Elementalist because it's 1-2-3 1-2-3 1-2-3 over and over.

This actually requires some thought to play, so I'm all for it! :-)

Maybe you're done with everything in the game, but many others still have plenty to do. This update will be good for them. As much as I wish this update was here 3 years ago, I'm still happy it's here now.

Happy new year.

Don't get your hopes up, certainly not with that update.

almost 5 yrs into gw and ive yet to get bored.
Skill changes do make it more interesting and a few times ive started new chrs to experience the changes.
Gamewise - ive seen many posts about how xxx has done everything and then the suggestions appear - try doing the game with no heros and only hench , try doing with starter armor etc.GW is what you make it - whats going to happen in gw2 , you get bored then what ?

We haven't seen the non elite changes (which is the more important aspect frankly), which is annoying and makes it hard to gauge just how well this update revamps Eles. But from just those changes it doesn't look particularly special, though it should do the job.

with the update do DwG do you guys think that it will reduce the Frostway team build for DoA?

It will slow it down significantly. It may stop it, if people find it too slow. But they can always go back to balanced and do it in 60-90 minutes like before. >.>

Forget the skill changes. The important part is "reduced HM armor," although the million dollar question is "how much." Searing Flames could well become an actual build again.

I was referring to playing an Ele in GW2.

Oh, I agree. I realize there are still people trying the game for the first time, some to get background for GW2, and it will be good for them. I'm not giving up on my Ele, to much attachment to her. Like I said, I'll always come back to Guild Wars for the sake of nostalgia. I'll certainly give the revamped skills a try... just wish this had happened a few years ago.

Not sure what you mean. That list includes non-elites. Armor of Frost being at the top. Chain lightning, Churning Earth?

Which will be offset by increased health. I'm guessing that the Ele revamp is to put Eles on a more even playing field with the armor ignoring damage. It will be interesting to see how it pans out.

I caught a comment in chat, while in the game, that some were speculating the new Star Burst would be the next big thing in DoA. Don't know myself, haven't done a lot in DoA, not familiar with the meta there.

BTW, unconditional exhaustion on Chain/Invoke lightning... not sure what to make of that. Any thoughts?

Searing Flames was always secretly an option. I'm just excited that it's effectiveness is going to rise. Now Ele Heroes might be something else to consider when making Hero parties (and to another extent, melee?).

What they mean is:

"Non-Elite Skills

While we are saving most of the changes to non-elite skills for a later update, we feel that there are a few worth making with this update."

That excerpt was from the leaked update notes, and the regular skills you mentioned are part of the "few worth making with this update" part.

Waiting on this part of the update.

Doublecast stuff looks interesting but it's not a super gamechanger.

Invoke/chain get slammed though: 5 exhaustion means HSR+HCT mods don't matter much. You effectively have 15-30 recharge if you don't want to stack exhaustion up too high.

DoA will revert back to shitter flames. Starburt could take over DoA to. Sadly though you will still need an imba.

...and they got replaced by shatterstone. Somewhat anyways.

This is true. But also, it depends on how high the health increase is. If its high enough to take a bunch of Starbursts, then people may just abandon DoA again.

Damage can be boosted. Don't forget EBSoH and Intensity.

skills that come to mind in a DoA build

Starburst
Flame Burst
Flame Djinns Haste
EBSoH
Intensity
Mantra of Resolve

maybe some armor of earth in there to give the imba a break and make pugs easier.

oh shitz :\

Intensity with Starburst after the update xD. Inferno could go in there too, maybe even... dare I say it... Phoenix?! :O:O:O Unless that gets changed as well.

im lookin for PBAoEs that are greater then adjacent. Flame djinns is just there for speed boost, especially with Armor of earth. Phoenix could work good tho.

You can PUG Zaishen stuff a little bit a day. Always fun. You can always use your HoM/title status to rage at people.
